With a background in speech pathology from Ohio U., and a Ph.D. in Language & Literacy from The University of TX @ Austin, reading and other written language difficulties are my passion. I am nationally certified as an Academic Language Therapist as well as a Qualified Instructor in several Orton/Gillingham curricula. My experience ranges from kindergarten through adulthood. I have been the Director of a full curriculum school for students with dyslexia in Austin, TX, and served as a speech pathologist for public schools as well as privately for over 20 years. Currently, I am an adjunct professor for the Advanced Literacy M.Ed. at a university, and I am completing the rewrite of an older yet still popular Orton/Gillingham program - The New Herman Method - for a publishing company. I speak nationally on various topics and am a national trainer for Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading & Spelling (LETRS), directed by Dr. Louisa Moats. After serving on several state and national boards, I now relish applying evidence-based practices with students of all ages. I consider my profession to be a ministry to both the students and their families. I hope to meet and work with you soon!
