Most of my teaching and tutoring is done based on the language learning theories which support oral presentation of language, demonstration (using Total Physical Response, for example), and [lastly]practice. According to Vygotsky (the famous linguist)one should build on whatever exists and develop the skill(s) from there. Hence, I teach cognitively; otherwise, pupils do not learn as easily and as smoothly as they should. Remember: learning is fun or, at least, it should be!

I have been tutoring people for twenty one years. I have tutored from K-College and all my students have always done better than the "best students," during their tests and examinations. It has been a great satisfaction, for me, to see that my students are always the best of the best. I hope to continue to do whatever is necessary (as long as it is legal, moral, and ethical) to help people achieve their academic goals (children, adults, and "older" students).

One thing to keep in mind is that students should not only be taught what they need to learn. They should also be taught how to learn it and how to analyze the "material," so they can find the "answer" on their own. And, this is what I do. God Bless!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a New York, and New Jersey, State Certified School Teacher (K-College) and have taught this population for approximately 7 years. In addition, I love learning so I made it my business to study how people learn and have become an excellent teacher and scholar of Study-Skills.

Additionally to the aforementioned, I have a Masters in Education (K-college), took Graduate Courses in Bilingual Education (Spanish and TESOL), and Major Courses in TESOL Methods and Linguistics (regarding English as well as the Spanish language), and the Study in a Language Other than English. I also enjoyed studying the Sociological and Anthropological Aspects of Language and its Foundation, the Theory and Practice of Bilingual/Bicultural Education and Effective Teaching-Effective Schools.

Additionally, I took courses at Farleigh Dickinson University, in New Jersey, during the spring of 1994. And, since I love English, I focused on this area and did my undergraduate work at the best College in the North East of the United States, SUNY Geneseo (where I obtained my English Degree). Since I love teaching, I got my New York and New Jersey State Teaching Certification on September 1, 1999. I have approximately 15 years of experience teaching English, Reading, Writing, and TESOL (from K- College), and I love it!

ESL/ESOL

I have a Master's degree in Education (K-college) degree and took graduate courses in Bilingual Education (Spanish and TESOL) as well as major courses in TESOL Methods and Linguistics (regarding English as well as the Spanish language). Also, I have been Teaching English to various multicultural groups for approximately 7 years. Because I know both languages, English and Spanish, well; have strong communication skills; and love interacting with people; I feel especially qualified to be a teacher of the population that I am addressing, now.

In addition to the above, I have tutored English at a correctional facility (OATKA), to college students, migrant workers, blue-collar workers, and professionals as medical doctors. Additionally, I have written standard, collegiate English for the English Club at SUNY Geneseo.

Some of my experiences with computers have been with Internet, E-Chalk, Macintosh, IBMs, McWrite, MacrosoftWorks, MacrosoftWord, Excel, Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Outlook Express, Word, and Trados (to name a few).

Additionally, I have a Masters in Education (K-college) and enjoyed taking courses such as "Education" and "Effective Teaching-Effective Schools." Also, I took courses at Farleigh Dickinson University, in New Jersey, during the spring of 1994.
