Greetings!

My name is Dan, and I would love to be your tutor. Tutoring for me is all about understanding and mutual respect. I will do my best to understand and fulfill your needs, and I am sure I can do so as long as we have mutual respect. I believe in an approach that is kind and straight-forward. Students are people, and in my experience, they work most effectively when they are treated as such.

I recently graduated with a BA/MA from Queens College in Philosophy with a focus on Applied Ethics and Political Theory. I was TA at Queens College, and I have guest lectured in ethics at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights. The arts also factored heavily into my college experience, and I have been working as a Theatrical Sound Designer and Stage Manager for more than 3 years at the college, off-off-Broadway, and off-Broadway levels. My skills and knowledge are broad, and I am capable of tutoring in a number of subjects.

Philosophy

I have a Master's degree in philosophy from Queens College CUNY, with a focus in Applied Ethics, 19th Century German Philosophy, and Political Theory. I am also knowledgeable in many other areas of Western philosophy and religion.

General Music

I have done course work in Music Theory, Composition, Words and Music, and received a score of 5 (highest possible) on the AP Music Theory exam in high school. I have been playing guitar for over 12 years, and I regularly write songs. I work as a sound designer, editor, and engineer for theatrical and musical performances. I'm open to tutoring and helping a student in any area relevant to the above, from composing and songwriting to music theory and technology.

Logic

I have a BA/MA in Philosophy from Queens College, CUNY, which included course work in Logic and Critical Reasoning, Symbolic Logic, and History of Philosophy including logic. I am well versed in logical fallacies, different forms of logic and mathematical thought, and the thinkers who developed these concepts (Russell, Whitehead, Wittgenstein etc.).
