I’ve loved math and science ever since I was young, so pursuing a career in engineering seemed like the perfect fit. I graduated from Brooklyn Technical HS with the top honor in Computer Science and am now attending NYU working on my degree in Computer Engineering. The only thing I like more than learning STEM courses is teaching them.
I enjoy tutoring because of that amazing feeling when a student finally “gets it.” My friends and teachers from high school to college have always told me that I have a knack for explaining things and should consider a career in education. I’ve been tutoring for the past 4 years and have really enjoyed it.
Although I may be new to WyzAnt, I bring patience, understanding and experience to the table. When I tutor, I go from broad to specific, from explanations to examples. In my experience, this has been the best way to find a student’s trouble areas and pinpoint the concepts they are struggling with. I’ve been in the students’ shoes (in some cases, not too long ago), and know first-hand what kind of difficulties they may be facing in class.
Most importantly, I engage students in the session. Students don’t want to sit and hear me talk. They get enough of that in class. I get them up to the board and working right away. I also connect what they are learning to the real world, adding perspective and clarifying the concept.
I’m not here to carry a student. I’m here to support them, guide them and eventually see them cross the finish line on their own. I’m not done tutoring until a student is confident enough to do a problem by themselves.
I have experience with students from elementary school to college. My specialties are Computer Science and Engineering courses (programming, VLSI, logic, architecture) and Math (up to pre-calculus).
