I do not have prior tutoring experience but I feel my academic credentials and recent grades support my ability to help others learn. I was an honors student all throughout middle school and high school and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, a specialized high school, with five AP credits and a 93.2 GPA. I am an AP scholar and have received a 90 or above on majority of my regents exams. I had an SAT superscore of 2120 and now attend SUNY Binghamton. As a freshman in college, I have finished my first semester with a 3.6 GPA. I am extremely studious and I feel this qualifies me to be an exceptional tutor. In college I was Treasurer of my club Oxfam America, as well as a member of Amnesty International, Model United Nations, and participate in intramural volleyball.
As a tutor I would take time with my students, using methods that have helped me succeed in school as well as alternative methods that may be easier for some. I feel the best way to learn is to ask questions and I would encourage my students to think and question to help them further understand the topics they are having trouble in. I can specialize in math and reading because that is where my grades have excelled. I have received a high of 680 on my SAT MATH 1 Subject Test and a 740 on the Critical Reading portion of the exam as well. I feel with my experience taking SAT tutoring classes myself and testing different methods to understand the topics, I would make a good tutor for other students that are going through what I had once had.
