I am currently a high school math teacher in a comprehensive Queens High School. I have been teaching high school mathematics for 10 years. Courses I have taught include Algebra 1, Geometry, Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, and Financial Algebra. While at my current school I was the Internship Coordinator and was a recipient of the Above and Beyond Award given by WABC TV.
I have also been teaching at Queensboro Community College for 6 years in their Kids College Program. At Queensboro I have taught the following regular courses and test prep courses: Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, Specialized High School Test Prep, COOP Test Prep, HSST Test Prep, Hunter High School Test Prep and Math SAT Test Prep.
I currently teach a course at Queensboro CC for the 21st Century Learning Centers in Introduction to College Algebra.
I have worked for several tutoring organizations and privately tutored high school students on a one to one basis. I feel that my strengths are in the communicating key math concepts, and an understanding of the specifics of both the curriculum and on the appropriate standardized tests. Additional strengths include making it relevant to outside interests especially business applications, and establishing a good working relationship with my students.
My educational background includes BA in Economics, Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Math Education. I have also completed the certificate program to be a School Administrators.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a Wall Street Vice President for some major financial services organizations.
I am willing to travel to your home or to a library for tutoring.
