With a Masters in Teaching, I have been teaching in elementary and middle schools for five years, including in CTT classrooms in public schools in New York City and San Diego. Having worked with many wonderful and unique children and teens I look forward to working with yours as well.
Most recently, I have been a co-teacher/academic coach at High Tech Middle School in San Diego in the 8th grade. As part of a project based learning school, I focused on working with the students with mild/moderate learning and emotional disabilities. I developed and facilitated curriculum for the students on things as it related to their individual education plan. In addition, I facilitated a class for both the English Language Learners and Spanish Language Learners.
Before this role, I facilitated anti-bullying curriculum in elementary and middle schools all over San Diego County. With my background in Humanities and Literacy, I built the curriculum with literacy strategies and strategies for working with at-risk youth. In this curriculum, I often collaborated with my co-educators in planning and assessment.
Many of my strategies, I developed as a lead teacher in an international school in Mexico, where I taught English and Literature. With my students from various countries and varying levels of English language skills, I differentiated my readings and strategies to make lessons appropriate and exciting for all levels.
All of my teaching has been informed by my studies in curriculum design and differentiation. These techniques have enabled me to build students’ skills, as well as their confidence in themselves as learners.
