I understand that chemistry can be challenging and it is difficult to succeed in this field. However, it is the fear of chemistry that overwhelms a student to the point that he/she does not understand concepts that could be understood. It is the passion to overcome this fear that inspires me to teach. With an MS, it is evident I am hard-working and understand the material. I am a patient individual that understands that every student has a different method of learning. I am also very versatile, which allows me to alter my method of instruction according to the needs of the student. I am motivated by the feeling of accomplishment felt by a student that has gained an understanding of a subject area that once seemed impossible.
As a graduate from St. John's University with a BS and MS in chemistry, I have a full understanding of the field. I have been teaching General Chemistry at the undergraduate level for the past two years at various schools. As a recent graduate, I have the advantage of seeing the perspective of students of the time. I understand the importance of relating the material to the students and the importance of clarity. I am comfortable with working with students of any age, and have tutored numerous students one-on-one. Teaching at several schools, has allowed me to understand the differences in requirements for various students. I am confident that I can adjust to the teaching environment required to allow students to excel in chemistry.
