While completing my Master's Degree in Applied Math at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), I worked as a Math and Physics tutor for the Academic Support Center. During that time, I conducted study sessions for students that were required to take Individualized Math and worked in the Bates Stud Center. These study sessions were designed for students with very weak math skills. In the study center, I would help any and all students that came in for help with Math. I also completed several tutoring workshops on Problem Solving, Learning Styles, and Proper Questioning. These workshops taught me how to work with people of all learning styles and ask leading questions. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Math Department. I helped groups of students during the workshop portion of class. More recently, I worked as an Adjunct Professor at RIT. While there I taught Elementary Calculus.
My tutoring style will vary depending on the student but it generally focuses on working through many problems. I find that it is important for the student to not only do the problem but also verbally walk through the problem. If the student can tell me how to do the problem in English it ensures a mastery of the subject.
I have a very flexible schedule so finding a time to meet would not be a problem. I primarily like to meet in person but I am willing to provide online sessions as well. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have.
