I am Andrew, professional tutor and professional engineer. Anywhere from designing the next rocket ship to helping you solve your confusing equation is my specialty. I received my Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and mathematics. After receiving my undergraduate degree I continued on to receive my Master's degree in electrical and computer engineering. The only event that is more exciting than building the next generation iPhone that monitors your heartbeat, or designing a new treadmill that keeps track of when you need a drink, is to see my student understand and become excited about math or science.
So whether you need a tutor to give you inspiration to solve that equation, understand that biological process, or help you with those tricky exams (high school entrance exams, PSAT, SAT, GRE, GED, and more) you will find him right here. Email me and let's make those dreams come true.
Here's a help page, that I created, to help students with chemistry!
Algebra Algebra Algebra what to say about good old Algebra. It's the basis of higher math classes, and it helps us understand a whole lot of real life situations... so a good understanding of Algebra is key!
I received an A in Algebra, received undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics/engineering, and absolutely love to teach Algebra.
Algebra is a really fun and interesting class, with the right motivation everybody can do it (and like it)!
Poor Calculus gets such a bad rep, when all it wants to do is study change. From limits to derivatives, and integrals to infinite series, Calculus is blown up to be a whole lot more difficult than it needs to be.
I took the Calculus series, from Calculus 1 all the way to Multivariable Calculus and loved every second of it (just in case my old professors are reading).
Let's work together to make big and bad Calculus a walk in the park!
As part of my degree requirements for bio medical engineering, I had to complete differential equations. I enjoyed this class and love to make connections to real world practical problems.
I also had to use differential equations as part of my graduate work. In a design of a wireless body area network, there were many differential equations that needed to be analyzed and solved.
I am experienced in using computational methods of solving differential equations using matlab and using classical methods to obtain solutions as well.
I received my master's degree from New York Institute of Technology in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I also have developed a non-invasive glucose monitor using principles obtained from physics, mathematics, and engineering.
From my education and experiences, I have a great understanding of circuits, electromagnetism, signal processing, control systems (analog and modern), communication systems (modern and analog, and many others. Send me an email and let's ace those classes together
Linear Algebra is the study of matrices, more generally linear systems, how we can mathematically understand and solve these huge systems (sometimes infinite), and the application of linear systems to solve problems in science and engineering.
During my graduate work, I took a year of linear algebra. I continued on to study how theories from linear systems can aid in the understanding of signal processing and complex control systems.
Linear Algebra will help one to visualize the beauty that exist within the symbiotic relationship between linear transformations and matrices.
MATLAB is a very very powerful computational tool used by professionals in all types of industry. Understanding this incredible software, allows the user so many capabilities that without MATLAB is almost impossible.
I have extensive experience with this programming language. Completing an undergraduate and graduate degree in both medical and engineering disciplines, I have gone into considerable depth with its functions and syntax.
MATLAB can be scary, intimidating, and overwhelming at first; with the right skill set (and the right tutor), MATLAB becomes one of the "coolest" and useful tools on the market.
Projects that I used MATLAB for:
-developing a wireless body area network to transmit ECG signals
-Non-invasive method for determining a patient's glucose concentration.
-Implementation of compression algorithms to aid in the transmission of signals
-some more interesting topics that I would love to share!
Currently, I work in at a research institute where I am responsible for the development, upkeep, and analysis of a complex database.
During my undergraduate and graduate degree classes, I have had to do projects using Microsoft Access to store and analyze huge datasets. This included storing results from electrical stimulation tests and pulling the data to analyze the results. Microsoft is a great and effective tool!
I completed a degree in bio medical engineering where I had to take Organic Chemistry 1 and 2. I received an 'A' in both of these classes and then took the MCAT.
I have been tutoring organic chemistry for about 2 years now, and I love to show real world application of these theories in all disciplines (medicine, environmental, materials science...etc.).
Organic Chemistry can be a lot of work, but it is certainly NOT impossible!
I have been tutoring NYS regents for about 7 years and have helped a wide variety of students possessing different forms of mathematical understanding. Some students understand material in ways that other students have a hard time with.
As a tutor, I understand that in the classroom it is impossible to tailor a lesson plan to an individual's best way of learning; that's where I come in! Each student should receive (and deserves) a lesson designed to meet his/her best way of comprehension. Many times, acing the Regent exam just comes with approaching a problem from a different angle.
I have received high 90's on all math and science Regents and have helped numerous students do the same. If you need that concept explained in a way that is unique to you, I can help!

Highly Recommended!!! — Andrew has been a phenomenal tutor and I am so glad that I was able to find him [through wyzant]!!! He is extremely patient, knowledgeable in his field, friendly, and even has a great sense of humor (which definitely helps when you have to be focused on math for an hour). I feel very comfortable around him and feel as though I am learning and relearning various skills with each session. He is trul ...
