Hello!

I love kids and adults! I have 10 years of teaching experience with a variety of age-groups. I've taught reading, math, social studies, science, health, Algebra, Geometry, and even Bible during those ten years.

Sometimes we each need extra time or extra help understanding a concept or practicing a skill, that's ok! I'm here to help. I love Math and Reading! Coincidentally, these two areas seem to be the toughest for young and old alike. I love Algebra. I mean, who doesn't love Algebra? I love Language Arts! It's so fun to drown yourself in a story or write something you can be proud of.

It is so fun to watch folks who are struggling with their learning begin to excel. I'm anxious to get started helping you with your reading, math, spelling, writing, etc. Let's get together. If you're willing to do your part, I'm willing to do mine!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Algebra can be explained in so many different ways. Maybe your student needs a little different explanation. Discouragement happens quickly! Get that turned around -- create progress.

One of the biggest roadblocks to success I see is that of discouragement. A student, for whatever reason, falls behind. Maybe there was a necessary absence. Maybe there was an extended illness, maybe the teacher was ill and a sub was put in place. Maybe the student has an undiagnosed learning deficit. Whatever the bump might be, the student begins to struggle. Once a struggle has begun,... read more

Hi Ciera, This can be solved in a couple of steps. Do you know how to "isolate" a variable? You know, get a variable on one side by itself? This is step one. Choose one of the equations, doesn't matter which, and solve for one of the variables (doesn't matter which). For Example,...

Usually parents discover that their child is irresponsible when the child enters the pre-teen years. The parent is tired of 'nagging' and discovers that the child only responds to 'nagging'. Suddenly the parent decides that the child is 'too old' to be nagged and that he/she should be old enough to do his own work, do well on his work, turn his work in on time, etc. Sadly, however, if... read more

Excellent Experience — Math has never been something that my mind has been able to grasp. For my last semester of college I was enrolled in an intermediate algebra course at CSCC struggling to pass. From our first meeting Tracy made it clear that she would do whatever it took to help me understand what I was struggling with. She took the time (off the clock) to look over and really prepare for our meetings. She never ma ...
