I am a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Neurobiology and Behavior. I believe that tutoring not only enables me to help students, but it also provides me the opportunity to enhance my students’ passion for lifelong learning. I am a current medical school student at the Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of MEdicine

As a previous tutor and teaching assistant for various courses at Cornell, I witnessed firsthand the positive effects of collaboration on student exam performance and retention on course material. The best route to improvement is being able to objectively identify which academic areas to strengthen. It is always possible to improve and succeed academically with proper organization, goals, and a guide. I have tutored clients in subjects ranging from the MCAT, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, SATs, ACTs, Regents, and many more subjects.

I took the MCAT and received a score of 34, 12 in Physical Sciences, 11 in Verbal Reasoning, and 11 in Biological Sciences, which placed me in the 93rd percentile of all test takers. I understand the struggles of preparing for medical school and can impart my past experiences and strategies to create a personalized plan with you in order to significantly increase your score. As long as you’re ready to study smart with my guidance, the sky is the limit.

With prior experience to teaching introductory and upper level basic science courses, I firmly believe you will be adequately prepared for your science classes. At Cornell, I was a teaching assistant for Comparative Physiology, where we were trained in learning strategies and principles of pedagogy. We were assigned to groups of students who showed difficulty in mastering the content for the course. Through using guided study sheets, spaced learning and electronic resources, my students were able to do 1 standard deviation higher compared to the class. Afterwards, I became a Senior Teaching assistant to help other Teaching Assistants in their group sessions. My other tasks included peer tutoring in the Office of Undergraduate Biology in all of the biology, chemistry and physics courses.

Through my experience, I have recognized the importance in placing comprehension over memorization on my own grades and the students I have tutored so far. I have been able to help students in various high school and university level science courses and standardized tests to achieve the results they desire. The first part of that journey is to determine what learning style the student is in order to fully maximize their learning potential. Along with proper review at timed intervals using various resources, my students and clients have been able to achieve long-term memory retention and improved problem solving skills. I will ensure you will receive a professional service you deserve just as I intend to serve my future patients with the highest quality of care. As your mentor, I will work with you to fully comprehend the material and excel in your endeavors towards a better future.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have taken calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations and Physics I & II. I also tutored undergraduates in Calculus 1 through Cornell University's Department of Mathematics.

Biology

Received all A's in Introductory Biology courses. At the Office of Undergraduate Biology, I was a teaching assistant for multiple intro and upper level biology courses including Intro Bio and Physiology. Scored in the 91st percentile for the MCAT Biological Sciences Section. Have tutored many students ranging from AP Biology and MCAT Biology.

Chemistry

In General Chemistry I & II, I received A's both semesters. I received an A+ and A- in Organic Chemistry I and II. I have extensive tutoring experience tutoring Chemistry and for the SAT exam, AP exam and university level courses.

MCAT

I originally took the MCAT the first time with a test-prep company and received a sub-30 score. After clearly identifying my needs and recognizing my weakness, I decided to embark on an independent study plan. I took the MCAT a second time and received a score of 34, 12 in Physical Sciences, 11 in Verbal Reasoning, and 11 in Biological Sciences, which placed me in the 93rd percentile of all test takers. I have previously tutored clients in preparing for the MCAT and they are satisfied with their scores. My strategies for MCAT prep involve understanding rather than memorizing content and I place a heavy emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking skills that are present throughout the entire exam.

Physiology

I have received all A's in my Physiology courses. I was a teaching assistant for upper level biology courses such as Comparative Physiology. I took the MCAT which has a Biological Sciences section in which I scored 93rd percentile. Lastly, I have tutored multiple students ranging from anatomy and physiology to MCAT Biology.

Precalculus

Received A's in calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations. Was a tutor for Calculus 1 in Cornell University's Department of Mathematics. Have tutored multiple students ranging from all Regents mathematics, calculus and SAT Math I & II.

Regents

I was originally a Research Scholar in the Medical Science Institute of Midwood High School. As such, I frequently scored 95+ on all Regents ranging from English, World History, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and many more. I also tutored other students during high school in the basic sciences to understand what their problem areas were in order to improve.

Very productive tutoring session — I am taking AP chemistry as a junior high school student. I had a great experience with Benny's tutoring service. He helped explain and answered some of the difficult problems and concepts I had with the course materials. He was patient. He definitely knows AP chemistry very well and is able to explain it well too. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a chemistry or AP chemistry tutor give ...
