Mathematics doesn't need to be scary or complicated. Most people have a hard time understanding concepts because an earlier step was either skipped or not absorbed fully along the way. I like to break down subjects to their most basic form, ensuring students have a good grasp of the building blocks and can relate them to the world around them, letting them absorb the concepts naturally. In this way even seemingly complicated subjects like calculus can be mastered.
I am the father of three academically gifted daughters who all excel at mathematics. The eldest is at a top East Coast college while the other two are in high school and middle school.
