Hi, I'm Jim! I am a math major studying at Stony Brook University. Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I have been tutoring students in high school mathematics (algebra through calculus) and regents physics. Sometimes, teachers can make math more complicated than it needs to be. I aim to alleviate that problem by providing clear explanations for students' questions about a wide variety of math topics.
The same applies to physics. Physics can be confusing if not explained clearly; I communicate effectively with students to help them better understand the material and apply this understanding to similar problems.
Finally, SAT math is a stumbling block for many students who would otherwise have high SAT scores. By helping students understand both the subject matter and the format of the questions, I can help prepare students for the various tricks the SAT throws at test-takers.
My qualifications are as follows: I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics exams, as well as a 100 on the Physics Regents. I scored an 800 on both the math section of the SAT (1530 combined Math and Critical Reading) and the Math Level 2 SAT Subject Test.
I look forward to helping students succeed in math!
