All of Alan’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about Alan’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

ACT Math

While I do not have a score on record for the ACT, I received a 780 on the Math portion of the SAT. While the SAT is slightly different than the SAT, there is a good portion that is shared between the two, and what is not I hold mastery in as well and tutor extensively in their respective subjects.

ACT Reading

Just as stated for the SAT, my comprehension skills and strategizing ability allow me to prepare my students with the best ways to approach the reading portion of the ACT. I also work with them to boost their vocabulary base and overall reading ability to prepare themselves not only for the ACT, but college as well.

ACT Science

This section of the ACT involves graph analysis and I work with my students to understand how to interpret graphs effectively.

Algebra 1

Throughout my student career, Mathematics has always been my top grade, achieving near perfect scores term after term. In my mastery of the topics I uncovered new techniques not taught in public schools based on the concepts behind the topics rather than using the rote learning method supplied by schools. I use these concepts and techniques to assist my students in making leaps and bounds in their classroom performance usually at a quite rapid pace.

Algebra 2

Throughout my student career, Mathematics has always been my top grade, achieving near perfect scores term after term. In my mastery of the topics I uncovered new techniques not taught in public schools based on the concepts behind the topics rather than using the rote learning method supplied by schools. I use these concepts and techniques to assist my students in making leaps and bounds in their classroom performance usually at a quite rapid pace.

Chess

I participated in a chess team in school that became finalists for NYC in a competition against other schools.

College Counseling

Throughout high school I was mentored by the high school guidance counselor throughout my four years, learning all there is about the college admissions process, in addition to learning extra information independently from numerous colleges and internet sources on their process. I have also administered college counseling to all my past students who have since achieved acceptance, with scholarships, to various colleges.

Composition (Music)

Currently, I am completing my final classes for the music technology major at The College Of Staten Island. My coursework has covered composition in classical and jazz settings. I also was in an all original rock band as the primary co-composer for 4 years, writing many songs throughout that time.

GED

My high school performance was at a high caliber throughout, graduating from high school with hefty scholarship offers from any college of my choice. Due to my mastery of high school subjects, I would easily be able to tutor for the high school equivalency test, the GED.

General Music

Currently, I am completing a degree for the Music Technology major at The College Of Staten Island, which is essentially a music bachelor of science with a few additional courses in music Technology, so general music is included in all forms.

Geometry

Throughout my student career, Mathematics has always been my top grade, achieving near perfect scores term after term. In my mastery of the topics I uncovered new techniques not taught in public schools based on the concepts behind the topics rather than using the rote learning method supplied by schools. Geometry also involves assisting students in becoming comfortable with analyzing shapes in conjunction with algebra. I use these concepts and techniques to assist my students in making leaps and bounds in their classroom performance usually at a quite rapid pace.

GRE

My scores on the individual sections of the GRE were 169/170 for Quantitative Reasoning, 161/170 for Verbal Reasoning, and 5.5/6 for Analytical Writing. My scores were all within the top scores on this exam nationally and I would gladly help my students to achieve similar results.

Guitar

I am an experienced bass guitar player, having played in a rock band for 4 years, and a jazz big band for 2 years, in addition to playing occasionally in a jazz small group setting.

Music Theory

As a graduating Music major I have never received a grade for a Music Theory style course with a grade less than an A. I have a comprehensive knowledge of tonal music theory and thrive during discussions of the topic, allowing me to easily boost my student's comprehension of the material.

Physics

Physics, the meeting point of mathematics and science to create logical thinking is the only science course I currently support teaching. Its methodology blends well with my analytical style in conjunction with my mastery of mathematics. Physics, especially in the area of mechanics, represents where my students have the opportunity to fully utilize my abilities as I combine my strongest features to assist them.

Precalculus

Throughout my student career, Mathematics has always been my top grade, achieving near perfect scores term after term. In my mastery of the topics I uncovered new techniques not taught in public schools based on the concepts behind the topics rather than using the rote learning method supplied by schools. I use these concepts and techniques to assist my students in making leaps and bounds in their classroom performance usually at a quite rapid pace.

PSAT

As the PSAT is the combination of the SAT elements, but just in a shorter form, my SAT credentials apply. Personally, I received a 780 on the Math portion of the SAT. The SAT is less of an exam than a game challenging you to leave your comfort zone and think outside the box, and I work to establish this kind of mindset with each of my students. My comprehension skills and strategizing ability allow me to prepare my students with the best ways to approach the reading portion of the SAT. I also work with them to boost their vocabulary base and overall reading ability to prepare themselves not only for the SAT, but college as well.

Regents

Each regents course has a corresponding subject involved with it. I offer tutoring in any regents subjects that I am approved to tutor in.

SAT Math

Personally, I received a 780 on the Math portion of the SAT. The SAT is less of an exam than a game challenging you to leave your comfort zone and think outside the box, and I work to establish this kind of mindset with each of my students.

SAT Reading

Songwriting

Prior to attending college for music technology, I was in a rock band for 4 years and was one of the primary co-composers on all the material. As of late I have started to compose slightly within the jazz idiom, and I have also composed for some short film clips.

Trigonometry

Throughout my student career, Mathematics has always been my top grade, achieving near perfect scores term after term. In my mastery of the topics I uncovered new techniques not taught in public schools based on the concepts behind the topics rather than using the rote learning method supplied by schools.
