Hi! I have over 10 years of experience as a tutor, including teaching young children and students with disabilities. Although I've specialized in math and the sciences, I also tutor students in Modern Greek, Russian, essays, grammar, and presentations. My goal when tutoring is to not only increase the student's grades, but to also teach them how to independently approach the topic, so that they can apply the same methods outside of tutoring sessions and later in their academic career. I also focus on broadening the student's knowledge of the topic beyond the scope of the class, including critical information that is often deleted from curriculums but is useful for truly understanding the topic, as well as making it interesting.

A little about me: I recently graduated from Mt. Sinai with my master's degree in Systems Biology with a thesis in Type II Diabetes and breast cancer metabolism. I also have my bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with a minor in Russian language. I'm a native speaker of Greek and studied Russian for eight years, including advanced level literature analysis. I can tutor for the SAT, the GED, biology, chemistry, Russian, Greek, math, public speaking, English grammar, essay proofreading, reading skills, and all of the mandated NYS Regents exams.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have high-passed all of the NYS Math Regents exams, and have been tutoring students in various math courses for many years.

Public Speaking
