My name is Osman (you can call me Nick). I grew up in France, attended French school from Kindergarten all the way through the end of High School. I am now attending Davidson College and will be a Senior in the Fall of 2013. I have taught French for 3 years straight at Davidson College since the Fall of 2010. I typically teach 2 groups of 7 students twice a week over the course of a semester and I am responsible for 10% of their final grade. Davidson College is ranked #1 Undergraduate Teaching for Liberal Arts Colleges. That is why when taking a language, it is mandatory that students meet at least twice a week in order to strengthen their linguistic skills with a Teaching Assistant (that's me). In this position, I was NOT responsible for grading papers and other clerical work for the French Department; rather I was in charge of ensuring that students were practicing French through carefully designed lessons plans that are overseen by the main professor not only outside of the classroom, but also outside of the homework assigned. Considering that there are on average 15 weeks in a semester and I taught 2 groups, twice a week for an hour, for 3 years (6 semesters), I have over 360 hours of teaching under my belt.
If you have any questions or would like any references, please feel free to contact me.
I am a Political Science and Chinese [double] Major. I speak English, French and Comorian fluently. I took 5 years of Spanish and I'm somewhat fluent in it. I've also been learning Mandarin Chinese for the past 3 years.
I hope to hear from you soon.
