I am a Stuyvesant High School, and NYU graduate, with a major in Economics, and minor in Business Studies from Stern. I am experienced in tutoring students ranging from junior high, to high school, as well as helping with college essays.
My credentials for math are the following: 770 math on the SAT, and a winner of the tri-state Math Olympiad in high school, and in the 90th percentile on the Math Regents, so I am very capable of teaching, or helping with algebra, and geometry, as well as any Math state-wide exam. My success on the recent LSAT with a score of 163, allows me to tutor students on the Reading Comprehension portion of the SAT, as well as mathematical logic, and help on the mathematical portion of the Specialized High School entrance exam. My long-time education in Spanish, up to the AP level, gives me the knowledge to tutor students with Spanish Grammar. Being brought up in a very challenging educational environment, I had support from my friends, and a stimulation to achieve my goals, so I can relate to many student’s struggles, but also help them overcome them.
My prior experiences include tutoring a college student in college math, and help on business essays, in addition to helping a high school student in algebra, specifically algebraic equations. I have also worked with children for two straight summers, volunteering for a summer camp and have helped develop fun and academic curricula that meet the needs of diverse campers. I enjoy tutoring students and helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. In addition, I am very energetic, and have been very active in my high school and college life, working alongside other students, school counselors and advisors in various school projects. Not only am I able to work with a group of students, but I am also capable of one-on-one tutoring, as I have previously worked with a junior high school student on her math homework, and helping her understand fractions, and their manipulation.
I always strive for excellence and success, and would no doubt impart that determination in my tutoring session, and in my students.
