I have six years of experience in working intensively with SAT study materials, including questions from the test makers. During this time, I have developed a comprehensive list of vocabulary words and grammar points that every successful test taker must know. I work with students to use the techniques I used in high school that helped me to earn nearly perfect scores, and the titles of National Merit Finalist and Winner, a designation as one of the top 8,000 test takers in the nation.
A few months of dedicated practice in this study method can make a significant difference in a student's SAT score.
For the past two years, I have worked with high school, college, and graduate students on a number of essays, including essays written for college applications and term papers. I have helped with proofreading, explaining grammar points, fine-tuning ideas, and developing a thesis. I have experience guiding young writers through the process of writing the academic essay for high school and college settings. I also have had success in meeting with students to produce brilliant college admissions essays, holding two to three sessions to walk students through every stage from finding the right topic to polishing the final draft.
I have studied French for the past nine years, and spent seven weeks living in Paris with a host family as part of a language immersion program. After taking a number of upper-level literature and conversational French classes at Yale, I am confident in my ability to work with students at the elementary and intermediate levels.
