I am an experienced tutor that specializes in bilingual Spanish students and students with special needs such as learning disabilities and dyslexia. I'm very creative with my lessons, using engaging activities, stories, and homework to help struggling students learn. I have taught students from grades kindergarten to 6th grade.
I use pre-tests and post-tests to determine the instructional level that is appropriate for their grade. I use workbooks and worksheets to help students, which helps remedy their deficiencies that were determined on the test whether on or below or above their grade level. I work on student plans and progress reports that outline their instructional needs. As for Spanish, I do not have formal tutoring experience but I help my fellow classmates and family members and friends with the Spanish classes with the use of Spanish textbooks. I also speak to parents in Spanish outlining a child's needs. I used tools such as drawing and music to engage the child in learning the material.
I also taught music theory privately to 2nd to 6th grade while teaching piano. I used a pre-primer book to determine which piano books are appropriate within learning level which starts from primer to upper levels when teaching the piano. I also taught major and minor chords concerning flats and sharps using the letters of the chords.
I am interested in tutoring children because I want to make a difference in their lives such as improving their academic performance in school and I can relate to students who have had difficulty in learning the material which I can boost their confidence and am sensitive to their needs. I also have the passion in teaching young children who speak Spanish and have learning disabilities. I can also use my talents to make their tutoring experience an enriching one.
