I discovered teaching recently when I was involved in a summer program teaching children about Shakespearean theater. I have always been passionate about Shakespeare, but I had never felt the passion of sharing that with young people. Since then, I have been actively involved in teaching, and have been very successful, having tutored in multiple subjects. All of my students show progress. One student of mine went from a 36 to a 90 on an algebra test after 30 hours of instruction. Other students of mine go up 10-20 points on their tests in the same amount of time.

In the fall, I am headed back to school to get a Masters and become a certified teacher in English and in special education.

Public Speaking

Probably my greatest single qualification in public speaking comes from the fact that I studied broadcast journalism in college. I was on the radio and television constantly, with thousands of people across the globe listening. This means that I am capable of improvising (as I was a sportscaster for a long time) as well as delivering a prepared speech.

Spelling

My work experience demonstrates I am an exceptional speller. I worked as a copy editor for MLB.com, and one of my primary jobs was to catch misspelled words and correct them. This was a skill I learned in journalism school when proper spelling was required on every assignment and spell-checkers were disabled on all computers.
