I have spent my life, thus far, traveling the country. I have seen forty-two of our fifty gorgeous states. I have also traveled internationally having been to both Canada and Spain. Everywhere that I have adventured to, I have learned something new. Everything that I have experienced has given me just enough knowledge to know that we are never finished learning. My passion is to help anyone, who seeks help, the opportunity to better understand what I have dedicated my life studying.
My best and most favorite subject is math, followed by a variety of sciences. I have been told that my wealth of skills is well beyond my 33 years. My teaching style centers around relating material to everyday situations to help better solidify a concept, however, I also have the ability to learn and adjust my style to suit a students special needs.
As for the standard learning methods, I have attended RPI in Troy and ACC in Queensbury where I studied Architecture and Engineering Science, respectively. During my tenure as a student tutor at the Adirondack Community College's Math Lab, I received an award for "Academic Excellence in Mathematics Peer Tutoring", an award not given out previously in more than 8 years. I was also told that in my two years there, the passing rate for students in remedial math had improved five fold. I have also tutored at the elementary level. I have an innate ability to assist others in thoroughly understanding the concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, etc. I can teach anyone who wants to learn! This is my guarantee.
I attended RPI for architectural and structural engineering. Adobe Creative Suite 6 was a part of our curriculum. We used many of its components including InDesign. I have spent over 60 hours working with Adobe products.
I have played flute for well over a decade. I also taught myself a little piano. I have composed over 25 pieces of music comprised of multiple staffs of instruments and 50+ bars in length. I am able to transpose by hand but currently and regularly use a computer program because technology is awesome.
I have played the flute since I was nine years old. I am currently in my 30's, and yes that is a recent picture. I am quite good at reading music based in the treble clef. I have taught a few of my cousins how to play and would be happy to teach you too. Practice creating an embouchure by blowing into the top of a bottle. If you can create a sound, you can play the flute.
As a student, I have learned multiple techniques to help retain the information that I have soaked up over the years. I was a straight "A" student through high school. The skills I attained over the years assisted me in maintaining a 3.72 GPA in Engineering science. My techniques range from mnemonic devices to repetition, and a variety in between. Everyone learns differently. I have also spent time studying this while tutoring at my college's math lab.
Fun and encouraging! — My daughter is enjoying her time with Meg. She made math easier to understand. Meg is fun and encouraging, we look forward to more sessions with her and are excited to see the progress my daughter will make. ...
