Hello. I am a Brown Graduate who has experience tutoring pupils from the elementary to the undergraduate level. I have a very strong knowledge base and understanding in the subjects of: Mathematics, Calculus, Economics, and Classics. I have a firm understanding of testing strategies for standardized tests such as the SSAT and SAT (and of course the subject matter).
I have a high degree of patience and an ability to adapt to a teaching style that suits the pupil. One of my other pursuits is coaching; I believe lessons learned from both tutoring and coaching have continually raised my ability in both arenas.

Algebra 1

The Building block of most maths. I have a strong base in Algebra and I think it is a very important subject for learning higher maths. I believe I understand it well enough to explain it in a simple way that is easy to learn

Algebra 2

Slightly more advanced math topics than Algebra 1, but still somewhat fundamental. I understand the subject and I believe I can expand and enhance a student to a functional level of understanding and beyond.

American History

American History is a subject I find much interest in. I understand all the basics and also have some specialized niche topics I have researched more extensively. I believe in addition to knowing what happened at certain points in time, it is also often important to know why things happened the way they did.

Vocabulary

I have a breadth of knowledge in English vocabulary for a few reasons. As an avid reader I was able to pick up many words and learned to grasp new words in context. My other primary source of vocab is from learning root words picked up in the study of Latin and ancient Greek language.

European History

I have taken courses at both the high school AP level and undergraduate level. I can help broaden an understanding of many events by sharing my knowledge on the subject and my understanding of the context of historical events

Geometry

I'm a spatial thinker so Geometry is especially fun for me. I can enhance your understanding of Geometry and I'd like to think I keep it fun too.
My background is strongest in high school level geometry. (I achieved perfect marks)
I can help you to be able to probe an answer in different ways.

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the transition math. It contains the core of algebra, but the student is not yet using variables. I believe I can teach this subject in a way that makes it easy to progress to algebra

Reading

As an avid reader I learned the key to understanding what you are reading is not in the details but in action. Being able to identify who is doing what is more important than any jargon in a passage. I can help you learn how to identify the components of sentences and passages in a way that I believe will lead to an increase in comprehension.

Statistics

Statistics is a subject often misunderstood and very easy to muddle. I have taken courses at the high school and undergraduate level. I believe I can use my experience learning this confusing subject to teach it to you.

Government & Politics

I have studied a bit of Political Science at the Undergraduate Level. I have also studied a fair bit on my own because I believe it is important to understand how systems of government work.

SAT Math

I have a strong math background and a consistently strong standardized testing background.
I have a full mastery of all subjects on the test and a firm grasp of the strategies to make the best use of time on the test. I can both help you improve your understanding of the subject and how to answer the problems efficiently.

Economics

Economics was my undergraduate concentration. I have extensive experience tutoring Microeconomics and a strong understanding of most undergraduate economics. For high school economics I took AP Economics and scored a 5 on both Micro and Macro exams and I understand what is needed for the course.

SAT Reading

I have full mastery of the vocabulary and reading comprehension ability expected for the takers of the test. (I scored highly as a student and recently retook the test for an SAT tutoring service and again scored high marks) I can teach an understanding of the strategy to efficiently take the test. I will teach why certain answers are right and ways to go about finding that answer even when you don't recognize all the words in a sentence or passage.

Probability

Simple probability is an important subject that I believe is often overlooked for some reason. Faulty probabilities are often displayed on television shows and even news reports. I understand this subject and can help students get a firm grasp of it.

SSAT

I took what is now known as the "upper test", as a 7th grader, as part of my application materials for entrance into a private secondary school.
As a former test taker I understand what is expected of students for the test. While I can not guarantee a high test score, I can teach how to translate the word problems into math efficiently.
