I am a native of the area, and have traveled throughout Italy and France. I am passionate about French and Italian, and have 12 years of experience and training in the most effective ways to teach a foreign language (French Ph.D Emory University).
As my PhD is in French literature, I can offer helpful tips for reading strategies and critical thinking skills at any level.
Having taught all levels of French in state and private liberal arts universities, as well as in a women’s college, I have developed ways of creating a comfortable learning atmosphere in which students are excited to immerse themselves in the sounds of another language, the beliefs surrounding other cultural histories, and the risks involved in trying out new pronunciation. I seek to pique students’ curiosity about language and literature, and to explore their interests with them.
Most of all, I want students to feel relaxed while speaking, enjoy the lesson, and cultivate the ways in which they best learn and enjoy French/Italian/reading.
More about my Reading expertise:
I have a Phd in Literature (specifically, French literature). As a young child, I would devour a book in an entire night. I found it so natural to want to discover a book as an open door to a mystical world beyond my confines of the universe. This sense of discovery later translated into my avid interest in languages, as I studied French, Spanish, and Italian. I seek to share this passion for reading with students as I teach language as a living and lived experience, by reading books and speaking other languages, I seek to guide students to appreciate the thought-provoking world of books, a world that is culturally diverse, exciting, ethical, and colorful.
