My name is Susie and I have had many experiences with teaching and tutoring students from ages 8-20: I tutored math to 3rd grade students; taught 11th and 12th graders a business course; taught creative writing to high school students in Ghana; and tutored an Afghan student English and writing to prepare her for her TOEFL exam.
I am a graduate of Bentley University. I graduated as a President's Academic Scholar with a major in Accounting. I've taken Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting and Reporting I & II, Cost Management, Auditing, and Federal Taxation. I took honors Algebra I and II in high school and also took various math classes while in college. I also graduated with a minor in Spanish.
I lived and studied in Spain for 6 months, where I developed fluency in Spanish. I've taken several Spanish courses throughout high school and college. I also took all my courses in Spanish while studying abroad in Spain.
As for the SATs, I am a certified Princeton Review teacher. I scored above 700 in my SAT subjects. Tutoring the SATs is fun and I enjoy explaining things to students in a way that would cater to them.
I have studied the violin since I was 5 years old. I have received various honors on New York State-wide playing tests. I have also played in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and Children's Orchestra Society. I was the principal violinist for my middle and high school orchestras. I would love to be able to bring joy, music, and life to a child by teaching him/her how to play the violin. Teaching music would not be work for me; rather, a playful learning experience. I believe that at a young early age, creativity and "right brain" development is crucial to foster.
I would like to combine my love for music and my love for teaching and working with children.
Please contact me if you would like any more information about me. I am also flexible with my schedule.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
