In the past, I have worked in publishing as a proofreader and copy editor. I am familiar with different style manuals and can help a writer adhere to the requirements of a specific style manual. I also worked as a remedial reading/writing and English teacher; I worked with students on all phases of the writing process. I taught grammar, usage, and mechanics to students of all levels and am a very accurate proofreader.

Presently I am teaching reading/writing in two after-school programs in grades 2, 3, and 4 in inner-city Rochester.

Phonics

I am certified permanently to teach Reading K-12 in New York State. I studied phonics in my coursework to get reading certification. I have taught elementary and secondary students using the Wilson Reading Program, which is a phonics-based program. In the last four years of my full-time teaching career, I taught remedial reading to students K-2 and taught a great deal of phonics.
