what bis the answer

Patrick's Answer:

Unfortunately, it is impossible to solve this equation. In general, you cannot solve an equation with more than one variable unless you can cancel out variables, leaving only one.

In order to solve this, you would need a system of equations. Since there are 5 variables, you'd need at least 5 different equations.

If f(x) is linearly related to x and f(x+4)-f(x)=32, what is the slopes of the graph of f?

There is nothing else.  I just need some help.

Patrick's Answer:

A slope is a measurement of a change in f(x) over the change in x. f(x+x) - f(x) = 32 tells you two things. First it tells you that the change in x is 4, which is pretty straight forward. The difference between x and x+4 is 4. Secondly, it tells you that the change in f(x) between x and x+4 is 32. So, change in f(x) over change in x is 32/4 or 8, which is the slope of f(x).

Patrick's Answer:

The first step to answering this question is to find the slope of the first line. To do that, we need to put it in slope-intercept form.
-7x - 4y = -4  =>  -4y = 7x - 4 => y = (-7/4)x + 1.
So the slope of this line is -7/4. Perpendicular lines have a negative reciprocal slope, so the slope of the perpendicular line is 4/7. Using that and the point (-14, -3) we can make an equation for the line in point-slope form: y + 3 = (4/7)(x + 14) . We can then convert this into slope intercept form.

y + 3 = (4/7)(x + 14) => y + 3 = (4/7)x + 8 => y = (4/7)x + 5.

So your final answer is y = 4/7 x + 5

solve inequality for the given variable?

s + 9 > 24= ?

Asked by Yolanda from Houston, TX

Patrick's Answer:

If s + 9 > 24, then you subtract 9 from both sides. You keep the inequality sign facing the same direction. So:

s + 9 > 24 => s > 15.

How do I solve this?!

-2x(3-x) in distributive property..

Patrick's Answer:

You have to multiply the first term, -2x, by each of the terms within the parentheses. So it will look like this:

-2x*3 - -2x*x, and then you clean it up to: -6x +2x^2 (That's x squared). Notice that the sign in the middle changed because you are subtracting a negative term, which is the same as adding.
