I love to learn; I love to teach. The two go hand-in-hand.
My deeply rooted affection for grammar and language arts began in primary school, being fortunate to attend a private school with a rigorous English curriculum. This training continued to be fostered throughout my years at an all-girls boarding prep school, from which I graduated with English and art as my top subjects. My high school is a known leader in SAT, ACT, and AP exam scores in the State of Connecticut. I continue to stay connected with my alma mater by sitting on the Board of Governors, acting as a liaison between the current school body and alumnae.
For the past six months, I have been volunteer tutoring in the language arts at my local GED prep center, paying forward to my new community while also gaining experience with one-on-one teaching.
I also am a Bachelor's of Fine Arts graduate of Parsons the New School of Design, having majored in fashion design. Arguably the best design school in the country, the fast-paced program submerses students in full-spectrum arts training. I have taken these skills into a successful nine years of fashion, illustration, graphic, and creative work.
When I tutor, I like to keep the subject at hand relevant, engaging, and fun, while challenging my pupils to not just work harder but to also want to be better. I am young, hip, and friendly- not the stuffy and aloof tutoring archetype from a student's nightmare!
I am a BFA graduate from Parsons School of Design; thusly, my college education had extensive drawing training. After graduating, I have worked full-time at fashion companies like Ralph Lauren and Katherine Hooker; my design work for them included sketching and illustrating.
