Elementary (K-6th)

I am NY State Certified in Reading K-12. I have taught students in grades 6-8 for over 25 years, in ELA classes, Computer Lab ESL and ELA classes and Reading Lab classes. I have also worked as a substitute teacher in elementary classes from grades Pre-K through five. I have taught English, ESL, Reading, Math and Social Studies. I work well with students of all ages.

Public Speaking

I successfully completed two speech classes while a student at Columbia University. As an English and Reading teacher of 25 years I have modeled correct speech to English and Reading students, including ELL and ESL students. My pronunciation is excellent, and I speak standard American English on the level of a radio or television news reporter or anchor. I have taught public speaking in English classes and have tutored and critiqued students preparing to give presentations and dramatic performances.

Regents

While teaching English on the Middle School level for over 25 years, I have prepared hundreds of students for their state ELA exams. My latest class did so well that I was rated Effective by the NY State Education Department. I have also tutored middle school and high school students in Math for several years. Personally, I have achieved a nearly perfect score overall (294) on the L.A.S.T. teacher exam, and scored perfect essay scores (300) on each of the two NY State teacher exams. I am well versed in both the NY State Regents English and Math exams and can definitely help students to improve their scores in both of these exams.

Social Studies

From 1989-1992 (3 years) I was a full-time, appointed 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher at a public Middle School in Brooklyn, NY. I prepared and delivered a wide variety of interesting, creative and challenging lessons for several honors classes on a full-time basis. While a college student, I completed several courses in Sociology, History and Political Science. My score of 294/300 on the LAST teacher exam and perfect scores of 300 on the essay portions of both the LAST and ATS-W teacher exams are evidence of my excellent analytical and writing skills.

Study Skills

As an ELA teacher for 25 years, I have taught my students how to study effectively and earn high grades. On a recent ELA NY State exam, my students performed so well that I was rated Effective by the NY State Education Department. While working as a teacher, I was trained and scored NY State ELA exams. Personally, on the NY State LAST teacher's exam, I scored 294 out of 300 points, with a perfect 300 on the essay. I am also skilled at teaching Math, having taught and tutored Math for several years in extended day classes and in my school's computer lab. I can offer excellent study methods to help students improve both their grades and test scores.

Marc has helped my son go up over 10 points on his overall math grade and should he need a math tutor next school year, I would call Marc back. Since working with Marc, my son's overall math grade has gone up 3 points, whic ...
