I enjoy teaching - especially the aspects of coaching, mentoring and monitoring students' progress. As a volunteer with a non-profit organization helping low-income communities, I am currently tutoring a group of students preparing for the SAT. This is a continuation of my past interest and experience in education - both in a work setting(including tutoring business students and training groups of people in a range of subjects) and in the personal realm (tutoring relatives and friends, from grade school to college). Basically, I love being able to help people understand and appreciate a subject matter, and to help them enhance their skills in this subject matter. I do not encourage rote learning, but prefer to guide the student through a process of understanding the logic of a particular topic. Whenever possible, I also try to illustrate the topic at hand with a real-life situation or something else that the student can relate to.
