Hi my name is Brian and I am a native English speaker with lots of experience teaching ESL and TOEFL. I am an ESL and TOEFL teacher here in New York City. I have over 5 years of ESL and TOEFL teaching experience to adults and university students. Originally from Queens, NY, I spent 3 years living and teaching in Taiwan, Thailand and Kenya before returning to New York. During that time I taught at several universities and designed a comprehensive TOEFL test prep curriculum for a reputable language school. I recently received my Master's degree from NYU in International Education and have a Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University in English Literature.
I am very patient, encouraging, friendly, and energetic. I take a relaxed approach to language instruction and encourage students to speak as much as possible. After 5 years of teaching TOEFL, I am very familiar with the test and how to get a better score. I will work on whatever area of language learning you need (speaking, reading, grammar, listening or writing). I currently teach academic reading and writing classes at a private language school in New York City. While in Taiwan, I studied Chinese so I know how difficult learning a new language can be.
