My name is Amy. Professionally, I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist but as a tutor I can help you with any college level psychology, learning, or special education subject content, including studying, papers, and research projects. My approach is very patient and organized. I have very strong skills in writing, editing, and proofreading to make a paper as strong as possible. I am able to help with small and large projects for students who don't know where to start or how to organize a paper or research project. I can also proofread to make sure your paper is as strong as possible. I have previously helped college students whose first language is not English to make sure papers are written correctly and to help explain subject content. I have an advanced Master's Degree and graduated with a 3.8 GPA so my study, research, and writing skills are very strong. I am a licensed school psychologist extensively trained in many cognitive disabilities including Aspergers and all autsim spectrum disorders. I worked for two years in a private school for kids on the autism spectrum using applied behavior analysis. I currently work in a private school where many of my students are on the autism spectrum. This is an area of expertise and extensive experience for me.

Autism

I am extensively trained in many cognitive disabilities including Aspergers and all autism spectrum disorders. I studied autism spectrum disorders on the graduate level and was extensively trained through the University of Texas online to become ABA certified. I worked for two years in a private school for kids on the autism spectrum using applied behavior analysis/discrete trail training to teach them how to interact appropriately with others (social skills), how to behave it public, self care, and all school subjects broken down into tiny, teachable parts. I worked with these kids in home, in school, and it the community. I can assist you on the college level with any school work related to autism or spectrum disorders.

Criminal Justice

I studied criminal justice my first two years of college and went on to become a private investigator for a time. I am currently a very active member of the New York Gang Investigators Association and am in the process of being assigned the title of regional director as well as a board seat. I work with a lot of law enforcement professional and am currently planning and organizing the Regional Conference for NYGIA. Many of the kids I serve in my day job are gang-involved. I am in the process of becoming a certified gang specialist.

English

My professional career requires a lot of writing and proper use of the English language. English has always been a strong subject area for me. I can help review papers for proper language and also can help those for whom English is a second language.

Grammar

Professionally, I write very detailed, scientific reports daily. This requires me to know and use perfect grammar in everything I write as my reports are often used in court. If you need someone to help you with grammar, I can definitely be of assistance.

Microsoft Word

I use Microsoft Word on a daily basis to compose thorough reports. I have a good working knowledge of the system. I can help you with navigating this in order to compose anything from essays, to tables, etc.

Praxis

I recently took and passed my Praxis exam with a score of 177 out of 200. I spent several months studying for this exam and taking practice tests. I feel I would be a good asset in helping someone else study for this test.

Proofreading

Professionally, I write extensive scientific reports daily. My writing and proofreading skills are extremely strong. I can help both adults and children with writing and proofreading.

Psychology

I have a BA and MS in Psychology and have been working as a School Psychologist for a few years. Psychology is my area of expertise. I can help college students study, understand or organize projects regarding anything psychology related.

Public Speaking

Throughout my undergraduate and graduate education I have been required to engage in public speaking, specifically in doing oral presentations or teaching graduate level classes, sometimes of 100+ students. In my current position as a School Psychologist, I regularly speak and present to the entire faculty for extended periods of time on various issues. Additionally, I am an animal rights advocate which frequently requires me to engage in public speaking such as news spots. I am confident in my public speaking abilities and always got A's on my oral presentations in college. I think I can be very helpful for anyone looking to improve these skills.

Sociology

Psychology and sociology go hand in hand. I am a licensed psychologist so I feel I have a wealth of knowledge in sociology. Many of the jobs I have held have been social work related such as counseling, case management, rehabilitation, etc. I also originally majored in sociology before switching to psychology. If you need help with studying Sociology, I can be of great assistance.

Special Needs

I am a licensed School Psychologist extensively trained and experienced in the area of special needs. I can help college students with any special needs content area. I can help with studying, test prep, understanding material, and doing projects.

Study Skills

I got through both undergraduate and graduate degrees with an extremely high GPA. My study skills are very strong. I can help with test preparation, study skills, time management, organization and planning. This is an area of expertise for me due to my degree and my professional job. Not only do I possess these skills but I have a high rate of success in teaching them to others.

Writing

Writing is one of my areas of tutoring certification. I do have strong written communication skills which helped me be very successful throughout my undergraduate (GPA 3.58) and graduate (GPA 3.8) academic careers. Throughout college I wrote extensively and never got anything less than an A on a paper. Many of my papers were research based and very lengthy. In my regular duties as a psychologist I write extensive psychological reports daily. This is an area I feel I could provide great assistance in.

Sessions: 1 hr minimum. 36 hr notice for Cancellations/changes or cancellation fee = amount of time originally scheduled. +$25 fee for cancellations made within 30 min of the session or no shows.
