I have been teaching for more than 10 years with the New York City Department of Education at the high school level. My expertise is in the area of Social Studies and French. I have an excellent record helping students excel on their New York State Regents exams. I like to first establish good rapport with the students to put them at ease and to gain their trust and confidence.

Together we will identify areas of weaknesses and I will tailor the tutoring sessions to address them. The strategies I'll employ will vary according to the students' learning style and ability. Students will be evaluated periodically to assess their progress. When concepts and skills are difficult, students will be given ample practice to achieve mastery of the task. Most of all, students will be encouraged to ask questions, to analyze, to conclude, to predict, and to develop higher order critical thinking skills to be better prepared for challenges ahead.

American History

I have taught American History for at least 10 years at the Regents level and at the Advanced Placement level. The course curriculum covers the colonial era through the present. French

I have taught French for a number of years. Students have been able to pass their Regents test with the instruction I provided. We usually start by learning essential vocabulary words and common conversation phrases to immerse students in the language. Students will be given ample time to practice their new skills. We will assign a series of activities to make the learning process more interesting and to enhance retention.

Writing

Since I majored in Political Science and History while in college, my professors frequently assigned papers to research and topics to write about. Therefore, I acquired plenty of experience in organizing my ideas to present, and to structure my essays to meet the criteria demanded. World History

While in college, I minored in World History or Global History. In my 15yr teaching career, I've taught and prepared students to pass their Regents exam in Global History and Geography and have received multiple commendations for my teaching style and strategy. I am very familiar with what New York State requires students to know to excel on the test including the topics that usually come up on the essay portion of the exam.

Regents

For the past fifteen years, I have prepared students from 9-12th grades to excel on their NY State Social Studies exams.
