My specialty is SAT/ACT/GMAT/ISEE/SSEE (verbal) test tutoring. I was a high-school English teacher for 10 years, and for the last 20 years I have substituted almost daily (including Special Ed.) in elementary schools in three local school districts. For the past 8 years, I have tutored privately and commercially (daily) at all levels. I have even taught English skills to foreign students who are preparing for entrance into U.S. colleges. I guess you can conclude that I've seen it all and done it all, from teaching kindergartners how to read to prepping students for graduate school entrance exams. I love it all.
My style is personal, friendly, and professional, all at the same time. I always give assignments for each upcoming session, so that our time together is completely productive. (I believe that a tutor cannot compensate for what a student will not do.) I consider my students as people, first, and I try to match my personal skills with their needs. While I cannot change anyone's I.Q. or fill all the gaps in a student's education, I have had marvelous success with all my students, and I miss them when it's over. Many of them keep in touch about their academic activities after our sessions have ended, and I do love that!
