I have been working on verbal parts with a student in Oceanside with a 92 grade point average who just got his first score back on the ACT which was a 32 out of 36 and he and I both believe he can do even better next time. I have not gotten ACT scores back yet from two other students I have been working briefly with, but both said they were more confident going in partly because of my help in ACT verbal parts.
A student I tutored in standardized test verbal tactics scored a 32 out of 36 on the April 2013 ACT. Recently, a student I tutored only 3 times or so scored a 34 out of 36 overall the November 2013 ACT.
a student who was at trinity school in Manhattan wanted to take the AP US history exam even though no AP. US history class was given at her school. We worked together for a short time. She got a 5 out of 5 on her ap exam and was subsequently accepted early decision at the university of Pennsylvania.
I played Basketball for school teams through junior High school, focusing on defense. I coached my stepdaughter's team to a championship. My intramural high school team won a Championship and defeated the male faculty in front of the whole high school.
A student who I have been working with since the sixth grade recently scored 800 out of 800 in SAT reading comprehension and 780 out of 800 in SAT writing. He was accepted to Dartmouth and his parents gave my recommendation letter credit for his getting into Dartmouth. We are very proud of his skills in English.
Right now I am tutoring a bright young man European history via Skype for an hour. He lives in Westchester County. This week we went over multiple choice questions from the Barron's AP European history book. On his wrong answers, I explained for example why Phillip of Spain was promoting the spread of Catholicism by trying to bringing the Spanish Armada in 1588 to England to depose Queen Elizabeth I, a protestant daughter of Henry the Eighth. Student seemed to quickly understand my explanations. I felt we got pretty much as possible out of the hour we had online. Next we plan to work out of the 5 out of 5 AP European History Book, one that is a bit more focused and more likely to get him to a 5 out of 5 in the short time we have.
My father was an all-state tackle in high school who would not allow me to play football in high school. As a 27 year old, I played semi-pro football for the New York Rams and was written up in New York Magazine in an article on touch football in Central Park as a quarterback with a "fair" arm. I dispute the description and have video to disprove it.
With my background in US History, I have in-home tutored a number of students featuring early American Constitutional History, featuring checks and balances and separation of powers; Civil War, Reconstruction and the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments; the Red Scare after the First World War and the House Un-American Activities Committee; Suffrage and the coming of the 20th Amendment, Prohibition, the Equal Rights Amendment, among other issues.

I tutor students especially for test prep and have tutored using ISEE and COOP material. I have tutored several students recently, helping them prepare for Catholic High School exams which they passed and got into all the schools they applied for.
I have a knowledge of the most taught works of literature and the major themes and characters. To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, Lord of the Flies, Animal Farm, Pride and Prejudice, Othello and Macbeth are among the most popular with many of my students whom I help write papers and prepare for exams.

I helped a student with Aspergers pass the American History Regents (which he had failed to pass twice before). He took the test and passed and went onto Nassau Community College. This past spring, I prepared 4 or 5 students prepare for AP American History or AP Euro History. References available on request.
In addition, a few years ago I tutored a student preparing for the English regents and he received a perfect score of a 100, and he wasn't even taking advanced or honors English.I also taught English regents at a yeshiva in Brooklyn and all the students passed the English Regents.
Students I have tutored recently in SAT writing and reading are going to Harvard, Princeton, Dartmouth, U of Chicago, Oberlin, and Boston University. While many or most students score a D (8 out of 12) or worse on the SAT essay, I can virtually guarantee a B plus (10 out of 12) or better. The SAT essay counts for about 10 per cent of the whole SAT exam. I can help. Most of my WyzAnt students give me 5 out of 5 rating. Check my profile and reviews.
I coached the New York observer co-ed softball team for six years. The last year, we went 14 and 0. Subsequently the team with essentially the same personnel went on to win the next two city championships.
I often work with students as young as 5th and 4th grade, some with learning disabilities. To make things easier to remember with English and/or social studies assignments, I have used 3 minute short you tube videos to help explain. After just a few weeks with me, one of my special ed students scored highest in his class on the ELA overall.
A student who had received a 480 out of 800 on the sat world history subject test studied with me twice a week for two months. I started each civilization with her by discussing how each one treated women. we spoke about how Julius Caesar's mother got through life by managing her apartment building in a run down section of Rome. we spoke of how African societies frowned on veiling their women as Islamic societies did because African hunter gatherer societies were more egalitarian. The student took the exam again and got an 800 out of 800 on it and then went on to Harvard.
