Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile on WyzAnt! I am currently enrolled in Stony Brook University and I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. I have a lot of experience tutoring kids in math, science and reading. I understand that the transition between middle school-high school-& college can be a confusing and difficult time period, but I would love to help you boost grades and make the load a little easier for you. If you're having trouble with SAT math, or algebra and pre-calculus, you don't have to worry anymore! I've been through all of these classes, and I've learned that practice makes perfect. Yes, that might sound a little repetitive, but it is absolutely true! I believe that as long as the student understands the concept well enough, he/she must apply it multiple times in order to fully master the subject. Our brains must be trained to comprehend difficult information, and with continuous practice and diligence, the impossible can be accomplished. I teach my students with specific examples as well as conceptual ones. I feel that if one applies methods of math and science in the real world, students will be able to relate and know why we learn such subjects in school.
I also teach intermediate reading and writing. I always tell my students that read something at least once a day. Pick up a newspaper or your favorite magazine- it doesn't have to be a complicated read! Just learn how to take initiative and read whatever you can! By reading, we can better our vocabulary, learn about current events and become open and tolerant of different cultures. Reading also helps us develop critical thinking skills which are crucial not only for the SAT but also in college, graduate school and your future profession. My father, till this day, always reminds me how important it is for us to read and gain insight into the world's events. Be proactive and read!
I will try very hard and help you with any academic subject you are struggling with. Just be positive, and never give up on something because you find it to be beyond your limits.
