I am currently and have for the past five years been employed as a Career Transition Specialist for Del-Jen New England, and at this time Rescare Corporation. This position is primarily centered on assessing technical training graduates’ employment placement and career readiness, providing referrals and accompanying support services in accordance with Department of Labor. This position requires that I ensure timely, college, further training, quality job and military placements as well as coordinating internships for a culturally diverse student population. Follow up services are extended to these students for a period of one year with the purpose of educational and employment retention with the intent of their maintaining job and academic security. These experiences have contributed to my knowledge of cultural issues and sensitivity to issues of diversity while working with students originally from Nepal, Somalia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Bosnia and Russia.
I have established and developed an employer database and developed employer outreach systems, preparing and disseminating informative literature regarding our career technical training programs. Being versed in contacting and coordinating meetings with prospective employers, facilitating job and college interviews and maintaining cohesive relations with a broad spectrum of employers and educational institutions has made me a highly effective Transition Specialist. My experience with International travel and knowledge of English Literature, writing and public speaking is extensive. Additionally, my background in education in the state of Arizona as an English teacher and College Preparation and Planning advisor to Navajo, Hopi, Zuni and Acoma Pueblo students, has provided me with the opportunity to fine tune my counseling and guidance methods. Assisting students to achieve success in a culturally diverse environment, while moving forward with continuing education, is my personal objective.
