Qualifications: I am a NYS certified teacher in both chemistry and physics. I earned my undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in secondary science education and certified in Kansas to teach physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, physical science, general science and middle school science. I love science and I love teaching! I have a master’s degree from Walden University in Secondary Education.
Experience: I taught physics & chemistry in public high school for six years. In college, I taught physics and biology labs for three years. I also tutored college students in math, science and English for five years. I have taught Sunday school for children of all ages (toddler through teen) for many years. Currently, I am homeschooling our youngest child. I also work from home as an online educational consultant: teaching online, writing curriculum, editing and designing.
Philosophy: I love helping students learn. All children and adults have different ways of learning, and I have a lot of techniques in my teacher bag of tricks to use when someone gets stuck. I have found that most learners benefit from some sort of hands –on learning. I try to identify where a student needs help and then come up with a strategy or strategies to use. I can help with general content, study skills, writing, test-taking strategies, or review to name a few areas of tutoring assistance. All ages of child and adult learners are welcome!
I look forward to hearing from you!
