I am a Certified Math Teacher that taught for over 25 years. I also have an Electrical Engineering Degree with a Master's in Computer Science. I have been tutoring and teaching very successfully for years. My personality allows me to relate very well with teenagers and get the most out of them. I love to teach/tutor math and fully understand why students do not comprehend mathematical concepts.

I have taught SAT classes for a long time as well and know the methods to achieving high scores on all three portions of the exam. I make sure that students understand why certain operations are performed and the theory behind them to help reinforce these concepts for future use. Math is the one subject that allows multiple methods and paths to obtain the correct answer and that needs to be encouraged. Patience is also needed to give students the confidence they need to attack problems that intimidate them. I used to own a Kumon Math Center which focuses on the basics to help students correct basic facts that they never absorbed in school. I have taken math courses ranging through Calculus I, II, and III along with differential equations while pursuing an electrical engineering degree. I am very patient and relate well to all types of teenagers, since I have so many of my own.

Algebra 1

Algebra is the most critical math subject to master as every math class further on is based on your proficiency within this subject. Algebra 2

Geometry

Geometry is an extremely important subject as you move forward into Trigonometry. Most students have trouble with Proofs but that is easily overcome once a couple of ideas are understood up front. I can speak the language of the student to help them understand the various aspects of Geometry and show them various methods of solving their problems. Geometry is more like a puzzle but much more fun when you know how to put the puzzle together.

Prealgebra

Pre-Algebra is critical to understand because Algebra itself is so important. Even concepts like fractions are often misunderstood and those type of misunderstandings really hurt a student when moving forward. I relate to the 7th - 9th grade student very well and understand why they are not understanding certain concepts. If a tutor cannot recognize these attributes of this level, the student can have difficulty comprehending strategies on various problems both now and in the future.

Precalculus

Pre-Calculus is very important to master before moving on to Calculus. It is possible to skip this subject and go right into Calculus if you have mastered the earlier subject matter. Pre-Calculus is for the student who has not excelled in the prior math courses and I understand where it is that they need help. I can also relate these concepts for the student so that Calculus is easier as well when it comes up next year.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a much different topic to study for a high school age student than Algebra or Geometry. There are many tools that must be utilized to understand a problem and the methods needed to approach it. Once these are established it is much easier for the student to grasp the higher level concepts associated with Trigonometry. SAT Math

The SAT exam is a unique exam that can be overcome by the proper strategies.
