Hello everyone,
My name is Maria and I am a 49 year-old single mom of a 21 year old daughter. I have helped my daughter through high school with patience and understanding and have helped her study and get through a very difficult junior and senior year. During her senior year she went from practically failing everything--which caused her to give up and want to drop out of school and get her GED in the middle of the Fall semester--to graduating with honors (on time) with her class. My daughter, her friends, and my friends and family said that she would never have graduated without my unending support and willingness to sacrifice and put my life somewhat on hold until we were able to get to graduation day together. I was told by many, and believe it to be true, that I can help other students who may need help as well.
I am currently pursuing my BA in Child Psychology online through a private and prestigious university and am still proudly maintaining a 4.0 GPA during the first quarter of my sophomore year. I am an upstanding member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for first and second year undergraduate students. I have expertise in English--which includes reading and writing--and can find my way pretty well around many different types of basic math. I received A's in three math classes I recently took, which included everything I forgot in high school as well as an advanced Quantitative Analysis class. I am a very quick and logical thinker and have been able to excel in these classes without help from the instructor. I have a lot to offer students who are struggling and are just looking for a new perspective on education. I love to learn and realize, after returning to school at this stage of my life, just how important education really is--especially in today's competitive and very difficult job market.
I work part-time from home and commute twice a week out of the area, but have a lot of available time in my schedule to help students in need of my services. I am smoke-, alcohol- and drug-free and have a wonderful outlook on life.
I have experience in the corporate world and have had extensive experience in writing proposals, professional emails, both academic and professional correspondence, etc. I have been told by friends, family, coworkers and academia that I am an excellent writer. I can really help someone put together a paper that jumps off the page. I have samples of my work upon request. I have had my own home-based businesses at various times over the past 30 years and have a lot of sales and marketing experience. I have also been a trainer of groups from five to 25 sales associates. I have been told by many people that I am a very good teacher: I try to understand what needs to be covered and do my very best to explain everything in layman's terms--so that the average person can understand the topics covered.
I love to help people in general, and look forward to sharing my knowledge with a student who is looking for someone who is understanding, patient, kind, caring, giving, non-judgmental, as well as bright, quick-thinking, and results-oriented. I will do my very best to help both parents and students to reach the goals of students from K-12 to reach their academic potential and aspire to greater goals and academic pursuits.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Maria
