I have worked as a tutor at New York Institute of Technology. I have also worked as a substitute teacher for the New York City Department of Education. I taught Middle School and some High School. I had to give lessons for 6, 7, 8, and 9th grade classes.
Recently, I tutored New York City 7th and 8th graders in math and reading acording to No Child Left Behind guidelines.
The topics covered besides addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, were computation, percent, fractions, decimals, ratios, measurements, area, volume, integers, divisibility, exponents, patterns, properties, consumer math, statistics, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. Also, to understand reading comprehension using multiple choice questioning. Students would understand phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, and reading comprehension strategies.
