Hello! My name is Andrew and I am a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, and a Master of Education degree from Norwich University. I achieved perfect math scores of 800 on both the SAT and the GRE. I have tutored many of my students in calculus and calculus-based physics, and I truly enjoy sharing my methods of understanding these subjects with others. I will happily provide recommendations from my former students upon request. Upon leaving Active Duty with the Navy, I hope to become a High School Math teacher. In the meantime, I greatly look forward to the opportunity to help others in succeeding in their evaluation exams. Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to the opportunity to help you and/or your loved ones!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Mechanical Engineering

I tutored calculus and calculus-based physics for 2 1/2 years. During that time, I also taught Engineering Statics to a summer school student whose professor would only provide exam dates - he did not teach the course. Due to my teaching and homework review, this student received an A in the course - his recommendation is available upon request.

Regents

I successfully completed Regents exams in Mathematics, Physics, US History, and English, earning a NY Regents High School diploma in 1999. Since then I attended the U.S. Naval Academy, majoring in Systems Engineering, and have served 10 years as a Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer.

3x^2-2x-4=0 (answer)

Karin is correct, above - the quadratic formula can be used to solve this equation. However, it's not the only way to do it. You could also use the "completing the square" method. Although I think the quadratic formula is easier, and it will absolutely work for any quadratic equation...

Perfect Tutor — Andy has helped me through the entire fall semester. I couldn't have asked for a better tutor!
