I did my undergraduate work at Rutgers University in New Brunswick as a double major in Mathematics and Physics and recently graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Master's in Mathematics.

During my time at Rutgers I tutored undergraduates in everything from Algebra, Pre-Calculus (Trigonometry), Calculus I and II (both for Math majors and Life Science majors), Multi-variable Calculus, Probability, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra and Advanced Calculus. I was a legend.

My philosophy for tutoring mathematics revolves around one fact: there is no, "hand-waving," in mathematics. The book is not wrong, and your teacher is not wrong either. Everything that you do in mathematics has a reason and has a purpose, and the best way to avoid having to memorize countless details is to know ahead of time what exactly is the purpose in your specific case. Other times, it may be helpful to memorize a specific diagram and use it as a tool to deduce a lot of useful information without having to memorize all of it. These are skills I learned and was taught as a tutor for the EOF and SSS TRiO program at Rutgers.

I specialize exclusively in mathematics courses because mathematics is my passion and my talent.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have tutored Elementary and Intermediate Algebra at at Burlington County College and also Rutgers for several years, tutoring incoming freshman as well as adults continuing their education.

Calculus

I have tutored for several years courses in elementary and intermediate Algebra, for undergraduates in a wide age range, as well as Pre-Calculus and Calculus. I have also held Pre-Calculus study groups at Rutgers clarifying course material and going over conceptual as well as computational problems students were having.

Differential Equations

In addition to taking courses in Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations at Burlington County College and Rutgers University respectively, I have also tutored both sections of ODEs for undergraduates at Rutgers (244 and 252) for several years. I have also taken a graduate course in PDEs at Stevens Institute of Technology and completed a Master's Thesis concerning the Cauchy problem for a pair of PDEs.

Linear Algebra

In addition to taking an undergraduate course in Linear Algebra at Burlington County College and a graduate course in Linear Algebra at Stevens Institute of technology I have also tutored several students in the undergraduate Linear Algebra course at Rutgers University, including the 250c MATLAB section.

I have also studied the more general theory of linear operators on infinite dimensional spaces in producing my Master's Thesis at Stevens.

Have you heard of the binomial theorem? For the first problem, I make the substitution u= cos(x) which implies du = -sin(x)dx and after using the fact that m=2013 is odd and sin(x)^2= 1-cos(x)^2 I can get the integrand to be:   ((1-u^2)^1006)*u^2014   But from here the...

The perimeter P of a rectangle is twice the length L plus twice the width W. As an equation this is:   P = (2 x L) + (2 x W)   You are given that the rectangle is 1/2 mile long, so L = 1/2 mi, and it is 1/4 mile wide, so W = 1/4 mi. Plugging these values for L and...

AWESOME!! — I was extremely impressed with Abdel. I had a previous tutor and Abdel really showed him up good. He really alleviated my concerns about finding a tutor to help her. He covered a lot of material and am thrilled that I found him. My daughter feels really comfortable with him tutoring her in Algebra 2. I am excited about seeing her excel in all her math endeavors. He's a keeper. P.S. He really lov ...
