Hello, parents and students! I'm an experienced mathematics tutor with a love for the subject. I truly enjoy helping students to understand math and see the importance of it. I look forward to helping all my students achieve their goals, excel in this subject area, and most of all, have an enjoyable experience learning math.

I have my bachelor's degree in mathematics from Queens College and my master's degree in statistics from Hunter College. I currently work in the actuarial field and tutor on the side (evenings and weekends). I have experience tutoring mathematics students from elementary school level through college level. Most students I work with are either preparing for the algebra, geometry, or trigonometry regents, or they are preparing the SAT or ACT (math portion).

I am very excited to share my knowledge and love for the subject with my students!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Actuarial Science

I have worked in the actuarial field for the past 7 years for an actuarial consulting firm. My field experience consists of calculations and analyses on a variety of projects for defined benefit pension plans including actuarial funding valuations for defined benefit pension plans, expense and disclosure valuations under FASB ASC 715-20, 715-30 and 715-60 for both pension and OPEB plans, form 5500 filings, non-discrimination testing, benefit calculations and benefit statements, special projects such as plan design analysis, multiple-year funding and accounting projections, and experience studies. So far, I have passed exams P, FM, MLC and all my VEE requirements.
