As an ESL
Arts Instructor, I like working with those who want to master the language, based on their individual needs. I specialize in teaching people how to use and master American English conversation, pronunciation, grammar
, and general comprehension skills in their daily lives. I love English, and enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for English with students who are eager to learn and open to creative teaching methods.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor's Degree in English, and went on to pursue my Master's Degree in Travel and International Studies from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. After that, I decided to focus on helping non-native English speakers with my TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification, which I received in April 2005. I trained for several months in a private language school in Newark, New Jersey, and then moved to Indonesia for more than a year to teach English to students of all ages. As one of two native English speakers on staff at OSSC Laurensia School in Serpong-Tangerang, Indonesia, I was responsible for editing
all of my colleagues' students' progress reports before distribution, the school's quarterly newsletter, and drafts of short plays written by other teachers before they were produced.
After returning to the United States, I worked in the publishing and international relocation industries. I have always worked with people from countries and cultures other than my own throughout my professional and academic careers, so I am very comfortable working with non-native English speakers. Since September 2013, I have focused on teaching ESL and English Language Arts
to small classes and individuals in the New York City and Northern New Jersey areas, and I enjoy it very much.
The only thing I require from all of my students is to be open to using traditional, practical, and creative exercises to help them with their studies. Everyone is different when it comes to learning, so I like to develop individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's particular needs. I look forward to working with beginner, intermediate, and advanced English language learners in the New York City metropolitan area!
