After graduating magna cum laude from Westminster Choir College, I immediately began teaching an online music theory course through Rider University for pre-college students. In addition to teaching music theory and tutoring in math, English, and music, I am an active performer in the New York and New Jersey area, a freelance copyeditor (mainly for doctoral dissertations and proposals), and an amateur chef.
I grew up as a Navy brat with three younger siblings, moving approximately every two years. Having experienced a wide variety of US microcultures, I have developed a strong interest in cooking. I have been cooking meals since I was a child, preparing detailed meals in the French, American, Southern, Mexican, and New American styles.
In addition to fluency in the kitchen, I have an affinity for language. I love to explore the nuance of speech and writing; moreover, I love to delve deep into the texture of writing—linguistically and thematically. I studied English intensively in school, focusing primarily on analysis and grammar.
I am proficient in basic mathematics, pre-algebra, and algebra.
My approach to tutoring involves steady guidance so the student forms his or her own conclusions. I find that most students just need a hint to set them on the right path. I am comfortable tutoring any age group and working with college-, master-, or doctorate-level students to prepare professional-level documents.
For several years, I have assisted in the copyediting process for doctoral students' dissertations and professional writers' journal submissions. I have a strong understanding of English grammar and syntax.
I have worked in several capacities as an administrative assistant. In both positions, I recreated outdated Excel databases to be more functional and efficient. In addition, I do work as a freelance copyeditor. I am extremely confident with Microsoft Word.
I have been a freelance copyeditor for several years, assisting doctoral students and professional writers prepare dissertations, theses, and journal submissions. I can provide detailed copyediting as well as apt suggestions for your documents so they are clear and prepared at a professional level. I am comfortable with a number of writing styles: poetic, literary, professional, essay, etc. I am also happy to proofread at any level, from elementary school book reports through professional level scholarly work.
Having graduated with a vocal performance degree from Westminster Choir College, one of the preeminent music colleges in the country, I can confidently say that I am completely comfortable with diatonic and chromatic solfege. During the summer, I teach an online music theory course that has a strong focus on sight reading. No matter which system you use (scale degrees, la-based minor solfege, fixed Do, or no system at all!), I can help you learn to read music fluently.
I graduated magna cum laude from Westminster Choir College with a degree in vocal performance. I have a passion for performance and a love of teaching. Along with regular performances in the NYC and NJ area, I teach an online music theory course that focuses on basic music theory.
I work regularly with doctoral students as they prepare dissertation proposals and final documents. I have also worked with professionals who are writing documents intended for publication in journals.
