My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning. I am an avid reader and enjoy learning as much as possible about a wide variety of subjects. I just completed my Master's in Special Education, graduating with honors. I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. I am also a law school graduate and a certified mediator.
I'm as passionate about the arts as I am about passing whichever test or course you need to take to advance to the next level. I try to make learning as fun as possible and use methods that I've developed over the years with my students to keep learning interesting and not boring or repetitive.
I've worked with students with all sorts of disabilities ranging from autism, emotional disturbance, anxiety, test taking anxiety, and depression. That said, I have also worked with general education students to help them with both high school and college course work.
I'm up for any challenge and I hope to help you realize your full learning potential.
I have a masters in special education. I have also privately tutored students with ADHD. I know how to keep a child with ADHD interested in learning because I keep distractions to a minimum, take frequent breaks as needed, and use music as a means to relax students while completing work.
I have a Masters degree in Special education and spent my entire semester of student teaching at a school for students with autism and Aspergers. I learned various methods for teaching children on the spectrum and enjoy working with this population. I know how to role play and model situations, I'm consistent, I teach social skills as part of learning, and I schedule in down time so students can have breaks. By maintaining a structured approach to learning I have helped students achieve success and reach their potential. We also have fun learning!
I have a masters degree in special education from City College. I have worked with students with special needs for many years including at an after school program where I tutored students in math and English. I've also volunteered at Bellevue with children and adolescents in the inpatient psychiatric unit with various disabilities ranging from schizophrenia to depression to bipolar disorder. I feel comfortable teaching children with special needs and I create a goal oriented curriculum based on their needs and skill sets. Any child can learn if they have a teacher who understands them!
