I have enjoyed working as a private tutor and homeschool
teacher (at the middle and high school levels) with New York City families over the past four years. In terms of credentials, I hold a Masters degree in Secondary Education (English
) from Harvard University and am also currently pursuing a Ph.D. in International Education from NYU.
In addition, I bring over ten years of experience teaching in the U.S. and abroad across various subjects and grade levels, including three years teaching high school English Literature
Arts, and Creative Writing
in Westchester County. My teaching and tutoring experience encompasses the following subjects:
Language and Composition (Essay
American, World, and European HistoriesMath
up through AlgebraSpanish
up to AP levelPsychologyBiology
and Earth SciencesSociology
I have also helped various students prepare for high stakes tests, including the ISEE
, and NYS Regents
exams, and have also worked individually with families and students to navigate the college and private school admissions process with a specialization in admissions essay coaching.
My diversity of teaching experience has reaffirmed my belief that each student possesses an individualized manner of learning best and that teachers and tutors must work to pinpoint these pathways to lead students in the direction of personal academic success. Having worked with a number of students with learning differences, I have developed strategies to help these alternative learners more effectively access confusing concepts, in turn bolstering their academic confidence.
I always look forward to meeting new students and helping each to meet his/her goals!
