in their class after they study with me. What's more important, they enjoy learning Chinese.

I taught Chinese to students 5 to 11 year old at the After School Workshop at PS 6 The Lillie Devereaux Blake School in New York City from January to June 2010 and from September 2012 to March 2013. I tutored kids from 4 to 15 years old in the summers of 2011 and 2012.

How My Teaching Methods Are Different:
Motivation is a big issue in many students when learning a second language
simply because they don't feel the need to learn the language. When I first start with a student, I combine music
, games, movies, stories, and field trips into my lesson plans to generate interests in the language. This worked for all my kids. Within 1 to 2 weeks, they usually start to look forward to our Chinese lessons.
The next step is to have a comprehensive curriculum. I design my own curriculum and use several great books on Chinese language learning. Current events are incorporated into my lesson plans. I also customize lessons for each student.
