I am a certified 7-12 Mathematics and Special Education teacher currently teaching Integrated Algebra in a NYC public high school. The NYS Regents exams are coming up in June (Integrated Algebra is the afternoon of June 20th) so if you are interested in an after-school tutor for your child, I would love to help. I live in Manhattan and teach in Queens so would be willing to travel to either of the two boroughs.

I am a prior Systems Engineer who changed careers and have been teaching math for three years. I have all of my lessons and curriculum mapping for New York State Integrated Algebra and have experience focusing in on the areas most students struggle with. As a certified/licensed teacher, I have been fingerprinted and approved by the city to teach children.

My standard rate is $100/hour. I would recommend starting at one hour a week for now, but as we get closer to the date of the regents, I would suggest meeting more often. I have access to old regents exams which is an excellent way of practicing. After the first week in February, my schedule is flexible so I can work with you to set up the best routine/schedule possible.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Regents

I have been teaching Integrated Algebra 1 in high school for the past three years. This course terminates in the NYS Integrated Algebra 1 regents exam given in June, August, and January. All of my lessons are geared towards getting the students to pass this regents exam.
